CHRISTIANSBURG (WSLS 10) - One man is dead following an early morning crash Friday in Christiansburg.

The single-vehicle accident happened at 3:10 a.m. Friday, October 30 at a Shell gas station in the 2300 block of Roanoke Street.

Police say the driver has been identified as Dakotah Chase Booth, 23, of Christiansburg.

Booth's body has been transported to the Medical Examiner's Office in Roanoke for an autopsy.

Authorities say the vehicle crash involved gas pumps at the gas station, resulting in a fire that had to be extinguished.

A portion of Roanoke Street was reduced to one lane in both directions from Bristol Street to Jarrett Drive. The affected section reopened around 12 p.m. after a crash team investigated and cleaned the area.

The investigation into the cause of the crash continues, but investigators believe speed was a factor.
