Amanda Taylor is in jail, accused of killing 59-year-old Charles Taylor. Amanda was married to Charles' son, Rex, but he took his own life in August, 2014.
For a family already grieving the loss of Rex, who they say suffered with depression, the death of Charles brings back those feelings of loss.
Hope Marvin was Rex's aunt. She said she and her family are still grieving the loss of her nephew.
"Rex was a good kid. He was my nephew. I just left him with all my heart. He would've done anything for anybody," Marvin explained.
WSLS Reporter Aaron Martin interviewed Rex in 2014 in a story about executions in Virginia. Rex had befriended a man on death row and discussed the reality of knowing that friend would eventually face execution.
Now, Rex's wife Amanda has taken responsibility for the death of his father, Charles Taylor, via social media site Instagram, saying she stabbed her father-in-law because he destroyed her husband. The post goes on to call it the "one last good thing" she could do for Rex. But Rex's family said it's not what Rex would have wished for his father, who Rex lived with when he took his own life.
"Rex wouldn't of wanted his father to be killed. He would not have wanted his father to be dead. Rex loved his father," Marvin explained.
Montgomery Co. murder suspect brought back to Virginia
As Amanda sits in jail facing first degree murder charges, Hope says she doesn't want her getting any more attention.
"I think it was about her trying to make herself trying to make herself look good. The girl's got issues. She needs help.... She needs help," Marvin said.
Marvin said her focus is on giving Rex a voice since he's no longer here.
"They need to let him rest and quit talking about him. He didn't commit this crime," Marvin said.
Rex felt behind two small children. Amanda's next court appearance is June 19.
