Classes cancelled at Blacksburg Middle School after lightning sparks fire

BLACKSBURG (WSLS 10) - Classes are cancelled Tuesday at Blacksburg Middle School after fire crews responded to a fire.

According to Blacksburg Volunteer Rescue Squad PIO Sydney Gay, crews were dispatched around 9 p.m. Monday.  When crews arrived, they saw smoke coming from the roof above the 6th grade wing of the school. Crews believe the fire was sparked from a lightning strike.

No injuries have been reported.

Blacksburg Middle school will be closed tomorrow according to the Montgomery County public Schools Superintendent.
