SALEM (WSLS 10) - A new piece of eye care technology used on astronauts at the International Space Station is now in southwest Virginia.

It is a machine that works much like an ultrasound to provide 3D images of the eye.

Invision eye clinic in Salem is one of the first places in the area to get this $75,000 instrument.  They are hoping this will help with early detection of things like glaucoma, macular degeneration and diabetes complications.

The test takes less than five minutes and does not require any dilation.
