Battalion Chief Brian K. Alderson said the 911 dispatchers advised first responders and when they arrived on scene, the building was fully engulfed in flames.

Fire trucks arrived at 5:49 a.m. and discovered a large one-story garage with heavy fire venting through the entire roof. Ladder 1 was set up and all fire operations remained outside the building.

Additional exterior handlines were set up outside the structure. Buildings on both sides were not involved.

As of 9:00 a.m., three engines, one ladder, and several support vehicles remain on the scene.

The Danville Life Saving Crew, Danville Police, and Danville Utilities are assisting.

Fire crews will remain on scene for several more hours. Alderson said the cause of the fire will be determined once the fire is out and it’s safe to go inside the structure.

Industrial Avenue is closed until further notice because fire trucks and hoses are blocking all four lanes of traffic.
