Authorities identify victim in fatal southeast Roanoke shooting

No arrests made

ROANOKE, Va.UPDATE, July 8 9:40 a.m.

Authorities have identified the man who died in a shooting in southeast Roanoke on Tuesday.

According to police, William English, 48, was the man police found with a gunshot wound outside of a business on 4th Street around 5:30 a.m.

Authorities say there have been no arrests in connection with this incident.

UPDATE, July 7 8:40 a.m.

A man is dead after a shooting in southeast Roanoke Tuesday morning, according to police.

Authorities say officers were notified of a person with a gunshot wound in the 700 block of 4th Street SE just before 5:30 a.m.

When officers arrived, they found the man with a gunshot wound outside of a business and the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities say his identity will be released once the family has been notified.

According to police, this is an ongoing homicide investigation and no one has been arrested at this time.

According to police, the incident happened near 4th Street and Bullitt Avenue SE.

Several roads are blocked off due to the investigation, including Bullit and 5th as well as Elm and 4th.
