Local toy drive for children in the hospital over the holidays

Items for teen boys and babies are the most needed

ROANOKE COUNTY, Va. – Kids at Carilion Children’s will have a reason to smile thanks to a local toy drive. The Junior League of Roanoke Valley is hosting three Saturday toy drives this holiday season for patients at the hospital.

Organizers say these are important because many corporate drives have been cancelled because of the pandemic.

”As a member, it’s nice to be able to give back, to help the children, and help the community out,” said Jessica Beemer, with Junior League of Roanoke Valley.

JLRV collected about 850 toys Saturday but items for teen boys and babies are the most needed still.

You still have time to donate.

● Buy a toy from the suggested list and bring it to the last Saturday drive-thru drop-off December 5 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the parking lot of Tanglewood Mall outside the former JCPenney

● Donate online at www.jlrv.org and that money will be used to buy toys, games and crafts

● Visit Carilion Children’s Amazon wish list and purchase the item(s) to be directly mailed to the hospital

All donations must be new. For a full list of requested items please visit www.jlrv.org.
