Here’s a look at some of the stories we’ll be following today as they make headlines across the country and Southwest Virginia.

The Roanoke County School Board will meet today as members will elect a chair and vice-chair. They will also get an update on COVID-19, as well as athletics.

Pittsylvania County will open bids today for the new Hurt EMS building. The county has accepted bids over the past month as it looks to build a new 3,800-square-foot station. The building will have two garage bays for ambulances with part of the building being used for living quarters.

The Amherst County Board of Supervisors will meet today as members will elect a board chair and vice-chair. They will also discuss giving $500 bonuses to county employees. The bonuses would cost the county $496,000.

The Campbell County Board of Supervisors will hold an organizational meeting today. After electing a chair and vice-chair, it will hold a public hearing about the proposed six-year secondary road improvement plan.
