HENRY COUNTY, Va. – High school athletes in Henry County still need to wait to get back to the games they love.

The school division decided Tuesday that given the community’s high transmission rate, it cannot allow high school sports to happen right now.

A school district spokeswoman said that they are constantly monitoring and evaluating, so this decision could change.

Given the already shortened seasons, it’s unknown if this decision will be reversed prior to the end of the winter season in February.

Henry County’s decision comes as the Roanoke County School Board voted Tuesday that students could practice and have games against other high schools within the county.
