FRANKLIN COUNTY, Va. – A 71-year-old man is dead after a crash in Franklin County, according to Virginia State Police.
Authorities said the accident happened just after midnight on Thursday on Virgil H Goode Highway, just north of Doe Run Road.

A 2003 GMC Sonoma was going north on Route 220 when it ran off the left side of the road and hit a guardrail, police said.
Cleo Sloan, 71, of Rocky Mount was wearing his seatbelt and died at the scene, according to authorities.
State Police said the crash remains under investigation.
