Police identify man found shot dead in Northwest Roanoke early Sunday morning

Body was found near Hershberger Road NW

ROANOKE, Va. – On Wednesday afternoon, the Roanoke Police Department released the name of the 26-year-old Roanoke man found dead early Sunday morning.

William Dungee Jr. was found lying in the roadway and first responders pronounced him dead at the scene.

No suspects were found at the scene and no arrests have been made at this time.


A man was found shot dead in Northwest Roanoke early Sunday morning, according to Roanoke Police.

Authorities said they responded to the 3300 block of Ferncliff Ave. NW in the parking lot between Home Depot and Sportsman’s Warehouse around 1 a.m. Sunday and found the victim.
