Marco Banks Jr., 19, is charged in connection to a fatal hit and run in Danville (Danville Police Department)

DANVILLE, Va. – Danville authorities have charged a 19-year-old in a fatal hit-and-run earlier this month.

Marco Banks Jr., 19, was arrested on Wednesday afternoon and charged with felony hit and run in connection to an accident on April 2 that killed 26-year-old Tyler Herndon of Danville. Herndon is survived by his wife and three daughters.

The accident happened on Franklin Turnpike when authorities said Banks hit Herndon, who was on a motorcycle at the time of the crash.

Thanks to help from the Danville community, police were able to locate Banks’ car that he was driving when the accident happened.

Authorities are asking for more help as the investigation continues. Anyone that saw Banks on the day of the crash in a black 2015 Buick Verano, has spoken to him, has video of the incident or any other information is asked to contact the Danville Police Department. Anyone who provides information leading to successful prosecution of Banks is eligible for a cash reward.

This is still an active investigation and police said additional misdemeanor traffic-related charges are expected to be made.
