Man crashes into deputy's car during police chase

ALLEGHANY COUNTY – Police said a man crashed into a deputy's car during a police chase. 

According to the Rockbridge County Sheriff's Office, Rockbridge deputies assisted the Lexington Police Department after a vehicle refused to stop for speeding on the Route 11 Bypass.

The vehicle continued to travel toward Collierstown. 

Wesley Harrison, the driver,  continued to speed away from police. 

Police said the 30-year-old eventually headed into Alleghany County. Deputies were already in position and deployed spikes to flatten his tires. 

Harrison sped up when he saw the spikes and then ran over them. He then ran into an Alleghany Deputy's vehicle head-on. 

Harrison was arrested and transported to the Rockbridge Regional Jail, according to the Sherriff's Office.  

The Alleghany Deputy was not seriously injured. 

Harrison has charges pending in both Alleghany and Rockbridge Counties.
