The couple took the baby boy to an emergency room in April for what they said was a rash on his face. The rash ended up being a second-degree burn, with further tests showing the baby had a skull fracture and brain injury.

After originally claiming the burns were caused by a cleaning agent, Mikala told children's services that Derick had put the baby in the microwave for a "short period of time."

Mikala added the head injuries were caused when Derick dropped the boy while imitating a television commercial.

Both the Boyce-Slezak's are being held in jail with bail set at $500,000.
