WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Police say a North Carolina woman was arrested after slashing the tires on a telephone company van and attacking an officer.
The Winston-Salem Police Department said in a news release that officers were dispatched to a residential area south of downtown Friday afternoon to deal with the situation. Officers say that 31-year-old Hope Nicole Vinson was cutting tires on an AT&T service van with a knife and had stolen its license plate.
Authorities say that she ran from police inside her home and attacked an officer with a knife after she was pursued inside. The officer was later treated and released from a hospital.
Vinson has been charged with assault with a deadly weapon on a law enforcement officer.
A phone listing for Vinson rang unanswered Saturday morning.
