Owners say Frank Theatres failed to meet its obligations

BLACKSBURG – Blacksburg APF Partners, the owner of First & Main shopping center severed ties with Frank Theatres CineBowl & Grille Tuesday.

The doors were locked Tuesday morning, a notice posted on the glass.

The move comes nearly two years after the combined state of the art theaters, including IMAX, full-service restaurant and bar and bowling facility opened.

In a statement, Blacksburg APF Partners said over the past several months, it noticed "a significant failure on the part of Frank Theatres to meet its obligations under their lease."

Blacksburg APF Partners has initiated legal proceedings against Frank Theatres, according to the release although the group said it could not go into further details in the proceedings.

The group says it has every intention of reopening with a new tenant in the very near future and is currently inspecting and inventorying the facility.

Bruce Frank, President, and CEO of Frank Entertainment Group could not be reached for comment at the time of this reporting; however, according to its website, Frank, whose grandfather founded the company more than a century ago described the concept as "a longtime vision."

"We anticipate tremendous success in growing this concept,” it reads.

Frank Theatres operates 20 theaters including in Virginia, West Virginia Pennsylvania, New Jersey, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, and Tennessee, according to its website.
