Pilot, passenger taken to the hospital after fiery plane crash in Bedford County

BEDFORD COUNTY (WSLS 10) - The pilot and passenger from a single-engine plane were transported to the hospital following a fiery crash over the weekend.

The crash happened around 4:40 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 13 near Parkside Drive and Buccaneer Road in Moneta.

According to Virginia State Police, the plane caught fire after it crashed. The pilot and passenger were removed from the wreckage.

The pilot was taken to Wake Forest for burn treatment and the passenger was transported to Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Their names have not yet been released.

State police said one was hurt by the plane when it crashed, and no homes were damaged.

The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the cause of the crash.
