Repairs now finished for underground cable that cut power to downtown Roanoke businesses

ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - Repairs to an underground cable that cut power to buildings in downtown Roanoke on Thursday are now finished.

Crews were out Friday morning making repairs and cleaning up.

AEP says there was a problem with an underground electrical cable, but the company is still figuring out what caused the issue.

Both the Carilion Administrative Services building and the old Heironomous building lost power Thursday.

About 600 people were evacuated Thursday afternoon.
