ROANOKE - A sixth grader was surprised with a trip to Disney.
Sara Guerry raised the most money for the Big Brothers Big Sisters Over the Edge fundraiser earlier this year, raising more than $1,700. Guerry won passes to Disney World.
The park is one of her favorite places and she wanted to share that with her Little Sister, Honesty Simon, who has never been there. Guerry surprised her with the trip after she rappelled down the Patrick Henry building in downtown Roanoke.
"I want to see her face when we walk through the gate. That gives me chills as an adult so to see her experience that," said Guerry.
Honesty has never flown before either but now both of them are going in October.
"For her to do everything for me, just to go somewhere with her means a lot," said Simon.
"There was never anyone else that passed through my mind to go. What an opportunity, and to be doing this opportunity for a fundraiser that I believe so much in and to have this girl in my life spending her time with me, I thought what a really cool opportunity just for the two of us to get out of town for a minute and do something really cool," said Guerry.
"I think she's funny, she's cool and I'm glad that she takes the time out of her day to spend time with me," said Simon.
People donated money for the plane tickets. Guerry is still raising money for the hotel rooms and food for when they make the trip in late October.
