UPDATE: Police arrest man in connection to deadly Roanoke nightclub shooting

ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - Roanoke City Police arrest a man in connection to a deadly at Monsters Bar & Grill on Orange Avenue.

Jermaine Brown, 24, was arrested Monday evening and has been charged with murder and malicious wounding.

Police say 26-year-old Jermaine Lynn Black, of Roanoke, died in the shooting while 10 others were injured in relation to this incident; eight of whom were transported to the hospital by private vehicles. According to the Roanoke City Police Department, it happened Sunday morning at 2:56 a.m.

Police were called to the nightclub after an unknown 911 call to the area. Officers heard multiple shots fired from inside the nightclub, then saw a crowd running away from the business, leaving in private vehicles.

During the investigation on scene, police found that multiple patrons of the business were shot.

Fire and EMS responded and transported several of these individuals for treatment. Once officers entered Monster's Bar and Grill they located inside one subject who had been shot, this subject was pronounced deceased by EMS personnel.

One victim fleeing the scene by private vehicle was stopped at Peters Creek Road and North Lakes by Roanoke Police. Roanoke County EMS responded and resumed the transport to a local hospital. Additional wounded individuals began arriving at local hospitals by private vehicles for treatment into the early morning hours.

The identity of the one deceased individual was being withheld until notification to family members can be made. The investigation into this incident is continuing.
