ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - Carilion Clinic is asking for the community's help to determine what health needs exist in Southwest Virginia.

The company says they need thousands of people to take part in a community health survey. The assessment will determine what health services are needed here in the area.

They say the results will give local hospitals, free clinics and health groups an idea of what to work on in the coming years.

Healthy Roanoke Valley, an organization that's helped spearhead health initiatives in recent years, says the survey is very important for the area.

It shows local groups what to spend their money on and encourages them to collaborate so all local needs can be met.

This is the second survey of this scale. The first was performed in 2012.

The survey is about 50 questions long. It's open to people living in the Roanoke Valley, Rockbridge County and Giles County. It will take about 15-20 minutes to complete.
