Victims not cooperating as Danville police investigate weekend shootings

DANVILLE (WSLS 10) - As of Monday, no arrests have been made and no official charges had been filed, but police are continuing to investigate three shooting cases.

The first happened at about 2:30 p.m. on Friday when an 18-year-old was shot at an apartment complex in the 200 block of College Park Drive. He was taken to Danville Regional Medical Center and then treated and released.

Just a couple of hours later, a 17-year-old reported being shot on Arnette Boulevard. He was also taken to Danville Regional Medical Center, treated, and released.

Then, about 24 hours after that, at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, another 18-year-old reported being shot on W. James Street.

The police department said Monday there is reason to believe all of these shootings are connected and these are not random, but the police department would not say how, exactly, these shootings may be connected.

WSLS 10 also asked if there is anyone else in the community who may be at risk of being targeted by whoever may be behind these shootings. The police department said officers hope that does not happen, but they cannot say for sure.

"There are some active leads that the investigators are working on. We're missing some level of cooperation with the victims that we're having to overcome," Lt. Mike Wallace explained.

Anyone with any information is asked to call the police department at 434-799-5111.
