10 Cares Blood Drive set for July 19

The blood drive will begin at noon

ROANOKE, Va. – Blood donations fell short of expectations the past two months, resulting in about 61,000 fewer donations than needed and a significant draw down of the Red Cross blood supply.

To help the blood bank, the annual 10 Cares Blood Drive will be Wednesday, July 19 from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The blood drive will be at the American Red Cross building at 352 Church Ave. in Roanoke.

The current blood donation shortfall is the equivalent of the Red Cross not collecting any blood donations for more than four days.

In the Appalachian Blood Services Region, more than 1,000 fewer donations were collected than needed during this time frame contributing to the overall shortfall.
