Virginia sees 1,057 new coronavirus cases, now reporting 77,430 statewide

RICHMOND, Va. – There are now 77,430 cases of the coronavirus in Virginia as of July 19.

Sunday’s total of 77,430 marks an increase from Saturday’s total of 76,373 cases.

Here’s a breakdown of today’s 1,057 new cases:

  • 146 new cases in Virginia Beach
  • 122 new cases in Newport News
  • 80 new cases in Fairfax County
  • 73 new cases in Chesapeake
  • 56 new cases in Hampton
  • 51 new cases in Loudoun County
  • 48 new cases in Prince William County
  • 41 new cases in Portsmouth
  • 35 new cases in James City County
  • 32 new cases in Henrico County
  • 24 new cases in Suffolk
  • 22 new cases in Richmond
  • 21 new cases in Norfolk
  • 20 new cases in Chesterfield
  • 19 new cases in Danville
  • 16 new cases in York County and Roanoke
  • 13 new cases in Pittsylvania County
  • 12 new cases in Spotsylvania County
  • 10 new cases in Petersburg and Lynchburg
  • 8 new cases in Albemarle County
  • 7 new cases in Arlington County, Alexandria, Stafford County and Washington County
  • 6 new cases in Fauquier County, Manassas, Isle of Wight County and Frederick County
  • 5 new cases in Culpeper County, Montgomery County, Prince George County, Gloucester County and Roanoke County
  • 4 new cases in Carroll County, Brunswick County, Tazewell County, Mecklenburg County, Wythe County, Halifax County and New Kent County
  • 3 new cases in Winchester, Amherst County, Hanover County, Bristol, Hopewell, Campbell County, Grayson County, Bedford County, Surry County, Williamsburg, Buckingham County and Salem
  • 2 new cases in Charlottesville, Fredericksburg, Franklin, Orange County, Harrisonburg, Louisa County, Manassas Park, Page County, Northumberland County, Westmoreland County and King William County
  • 1 new case in Shenandoah County, Southampton County, Augusta County, Sussex County, Accomack County, Galax, Dinwiddie County, Pulaski County, Poquoson, Essex County, Greene County, Goochland County, Amelia County, Powhatan County, Rappahannock County, Floyd County, Dickenson County, King George County, Russell County, Radford, Covington, Alleghany County and Mathews County

As of Sunday, the Virginia Dept. of Health reports there have been 998,292 total testing encounters.

The term “testing encounters” includes individuals who have been tested more than once due to their profession, high-risk status or need for a negative result to return to work. The health department started using this metric on May 1. To learn more, click here.
