RICHMOND, Va. – There are now 94,251 cases of the coronavirus in Virginia as of August 4.

Tuesday’s total of 94,251 marks an increase from Monday’s total of 93,106 cases.

Here is a breakdown of the 1,145 new coronavirus cases in Virginia:

  • 102 new cases in Virginia Beach
  • 101 new cases in Prince William County
  • 91 new cases in Portsmouth
  • 80 new cases in Fairfax County and Norfolk
  • 72 new cases in Chesapeake
  • 46 new cases in Newport News
  • 44 new cases in Chesterfield County
  • 36 new cases in Henrico County
  • 34 new cases in Loudoun County
  • 33 new cases in Hampton
  • 29 new cases in Suffolk
  • 28 new cases in Arlington County
  • 23 new cases in Richmond and Alexandria
  • 18 new cases in Spotsylvania County
  • 17 new cases in Lynchburg
  • 15 new cases in Albemarle County
  • 12 new cases in York County and Henry County
  • 11 new cases in Stafford County and Rockingham County
  • 10 new cases in Isle of Wight County, James City County, Harrisonburg and Grayson County
  • 9 new cases in Charlottesville
  • 8 new cases in Wise County and Hanover County
  • 7 new cases in Augusta County and Radford

  • 2 new cases in Frederick County, Scott County, Prince Edward County, Halifax County, Manassas, Floyd County, Martinsville, New Kent County, Colonial Heights, Mecklenburg County, Orange County, Accomack County, Gloucester County, Manassas Park and Winchester
  • 1 new case in Greensville County, Dinwiddie County, Lee County, Hopewell, Poquoson, Bristol, Sussex County, Northampton County, Salem, Appomattox County, Page County, Surry County, Middlesex County, Buchanan County, King and Queen County, Cumberland County, Nottoway County, Caroline County, Mathews County, Norton, Lancaster County, Charles City County, Goochland County, King William County and Brunswick County
  • Montgomery County, Prince George County, Wythe County, Falls Church and Rockbridge County all decreased by one case
  • Carroll County decreased by 10 cases

As of Tuesday, the Virginia Dept. of Health reports there have been 1,271,174 total testing encounters.

The term “testing encounters” includes individuals who have been tested more than once due to their profession, high-risk status or need for a negative result to return to work. The health department started using this metric on May 1. To learn more, click here.
