RICHMOND, Va. – There are now 99,189 cases of the coronavirus in Virginia as of August 8.

Saturday’s total of 99,189 marks an increase from Friday’s total of 97,882 cases.

  • 88 new cases in Prince William County
  • 71 new cases in Norfolk
  • 67 new cases in Chesterfield County
  • 61 new cases in Fairfax County
  • 58 new cases in Loudoun County
  • 55 new cases in Mecklenburg County
  • 44 new cases in Chesapeake
  • 38 new cases in Lynchburg
  • 37 new cases in Hampton
  • 32 new cases in Portsmouth and Alexandria
  • 28 new cases in Henrico County and Newport News
  • 27 new cases in Suffolk
  • 25 new cases in Arlington County
  • 22 new cases in Spotsylvania County
  • 20 new cases in Richmond and Patrick County

As of Saturday, the Virginia Dept. of Health reports there have been 1,328,633 total testing encounters.

The term “testing encounters” includes individuals who have been tested more than once due to their profession, high-risk status or need for a negative result to return to work. The health department started using this metric on May 1. To learn more, click here.
