Virginia sees 1,115 new coronavirus cases, now reporting 131,640 statewide

There are now 2,711 deaths from the coronavirus in Virginia

RICHMOND, Va. – As of September 11, Virginia is now reporting 131,640 cases of the coronavirus across the commonwealth since March.

Friday’s total of 131,640 marks an increase from Thursday’s total of 130,525 cases.

Here is a breakdown of the 1,115 new cases in Virginia:

  • 93 new cases in Prince William County
  • 77 new cases in Fairfax County
  • 71 new cases in Montgomery County
  • 54 new cases in Harrisonburg
  • 50 new cases in Loudoun County
  • 49 new cases in Chesterfield County
  • 41 new cases in Henrico County
  • 39 new cases in Richmond City
  • 35 new cases in Norfolk
  • 34 new cases in Charlottesville
  • 30 new cases in Roanoke
  • 26 new cases in Hanover County
  • 23 new cases in Virginia Beach
  • 21 new cases in Spotsylvania County
  • 20 new cases in Bedford County
  • 19 new cases in Chesapeake and Alexandria
  • 18 new cases in Stafford County
  • 16 new cases in Lynchburg
  • 14 new cases in Mecklenburg County
  • 13 new cases in Arlington County
  • 12 new cases in Albemarle County and Radford
  • 11 new cases in Pittsylvania County

  • 2 new cases in James City County, Petersburg, Southampton County, King William County, Carroll County, Grayson County, Greensville County, Bristol, Wise County, Waynesboro, Gloucester County, Scott County, Accomack County, Colonial Heights, Giles County, Warren County, Buckingham County, Buchanan County, Alleghany County and Westmoreland County
  • 1 new case in Amelia County, Dinwiddie County, Rockbridge County, Richmond County, Rappahannock County, Norton, Powhatan County, Pulaski County, Craig County, Louisa County, Dickenson County, Page County, Williamsburg, Falls Church and Fairfax
  • Fredericksburg, Poquoson, Manassas Park and Madison County all decreased by one case
  • Winchester decreased by two cases

As of Friday, the Virginia Dept. of Health reports there have been 1,863,082 total testing encounters.

The term “testing encounters” includes individuals who have been tested more than once due to their profession, high-risk status or need for a negative result to return to work. The health department started using this metric on May 1. To learn more, click here.
