Virginia sees 1,116 new coronavirus cases, now reporting 150,803 statewide

There are now 3,270 deaths from the coronavirus in Virginia

RICHMOND, Va. – As of October 3, Virginia is now reporting 150,803 cases of the coronavirus across the commonwealth since March.

Saturday’s total of 150,803 marks an increase from Friday’s total of 149,687 cases.

Here’s a breakdown of today’s 1,116 new cases:

  • 112 new cases in Fairfax County
  • 54 new cases in Roanoke
  • 47 new cases in Chesterfield County
  • 43 new cases in Charlottesville
  • 42 new cases in Richmond
  • 38 new cases in Loudoun County
  • 36 new cases in Montgomery County
  • 34 new cases in Norfolk
  • 33 new cases in Henrico County
  • 31 new cases in Mecklenburg County
  • 27 new cases in Prince William County
  • 25 new cases in Rockingham County
  • 23 new cases in Virginia Beach, Danville, Prince George County and Franklin County
  • 21 new cases in Newport News and Chesapeake
  • 20 new cases in Alexandria
  • 19 new cases in Frederick County
  • 17 new cases in Arlington County and Washington County
  • 14 new cases in Albemarle County
  • 12 new cases in Harrisonburg and Hampton
  • 11 new cases in Lynchburg, Pittsylvania County and Buchanan County
  • 10 new cases in Roanoke County, Hanover County, Portsmouth, Suffolk and Prince Edward County
  • 9 new cases in Dinwiddie County and Franklin
  • 8 new cases in Bedford County, Augusta County and Charlotte County
  • 7 new cases in Henry County, Petersburg, Spotsylvania County, Russell County, Hopewell, Waynesboro, Halifax County, Salem and Martinsville
  • 6 new cases in New Kent County, Manassas, Wythe County and Warren County
  • 5 new cases in Greensville County, Fauquier County, Pulaski County, Wise County, Staunton, Louisa County and Shenandoah County
  • 4 new cases in Lexington, Stafford County, Isle of Wight County, Tazewell County, Campbell County, James City County, Orange County, York County, Scott County and Floyd County
  • 3 new cases in Winchester, Sussex County, Carroll County, Nottoway County, Patrick County and Madison County
  • 2 new cases in Fluvanna County, Northumberland County, Mathews County, Southampton County, Gloucester County, Essex County, Amherst County, Botetourt County, Page County, Appomattox County, Lunenburg County and Buckingham County
  • 1 new case in Smyth County, Middlesex County, Brunswick County, Radford, Galax, Williamsburg, Bristol, Culpeper County, Powhatan County, Norton, Fredericksburg, Accomack County, Colonial Heights, Giles County, Cumberland County, Greene County, Covington, Clarke County, Highland County, King and Queen County, Amelia County and Falls Church

As of Saturday, the Virginia Dept. of Health reports there have been 2,267,407 total testing encounters.

The term “testing encounters” includes individuals who have been tested more than once due to their profession, high-risk status or need for a negative result to return to work. The health department started using this metric on May 1. To learn more, click here.
