Virginia sees 1,235 new coronavirus cases, now reporting 160,805 statewide

There are now 3,372 deaths from the coronavirus in Virginia

RICHMOND, Va. – As of October 13, Virginia is now reporting 160,805 cases of the coronavirus across the commonwealth since March.

Tuesday’s total of 160,805 marks an increase from Monday’s total of 159,570 cases.

Here’s a breakdown of the day’s new 1,235 cases:

  • 115 new cases reported in Prince William County
  • 96 new cases reported in Fairfax County
  • 62 new cases reported in Chesterfield County
  • 52 new cases reported in Roanoke County and Prince George County
  • 44 new cases reported in Loudoun County
  • 36 new cases reported in Franklin County
  • 33 new cases reported in Richmond
  • 32 new cases reported in Virginia Beach
  • 25 new cases reported in Salem
  • 23 new cases reported in Lynchburg
  • 22 new cases reported in Bedford County
  • 21 new cases reported in Norfolk
  • 19 new cases reported in Henrico County and Arlington County
  • 18 new cases reported in Westmoreland County
  • 17 new cases reported in Harrisonburg and Newport News
  • 16 new cases reported in Frederick County
  • 15 new cases reported in Hanover County and Montgomery County
  • 14 new cases reported in Amherst County and Dinwiddie County
  • 13 new cases reported in Alexandria and Danville
  • 12 new cases reported in Chesapeake, Stafford County, Lee County, Rockingham County and Petersburg
  • 11 new cases reported in Campbell County
  • 10 new cases reported in Hampton, Powhatan County and Scott County
  • 9 new cases reported in Henry County, Gloucester County, Hopewell and Carroll County
  • 8 new cases reported in Pittsylvania County, Appomattox County, Botetourt County, Northumberland County and Mathews County
  • 7 new cases reported in Fauquier County, Washington County, Grayson County, Page County and Radford
  • 6 new cases reported in Prince Edward County, Albemarle County, Wise County, King William County

  • 3 new cases reported in Portsmouth, Warren County, Culpeper County, Isle of Wight County, Greensville County, Tazewell County, Fluvanna County, King Goerge County, Brunswick County, Nottoway County, Smyth County, Halifax County, Greene County, King and Queen County and Colonial Heights
  • 2 new cases reported in Charlotte County, Shenandoah County, Augusta County, Orange County, Clarke County, Bristol, Mecklenburg County, James City County, Rockbridge County, Nelson County, Essex County, Wythe County, Lancaster County and Dickenson County
  • 1 new case reported in Martinsville, Charlottesville, Waynesboro, Floyd County, Patrick County, New Kent County, Manassas Park, Buckingham County, Poquoson, Buena Vista, Norton, Fredericksburg, Craig County, Middlesex County, Sussex County and Falls Church

As of Tuesday, the Virginia Dept. of Health reports there have been 2,468,715 total testing encounters.

The term “testing encounters” includes individuals who have been tested more than once due to their profession, high-risk status or need for a negative result to return to work. The health department started using this metric on May 1. To learn more, click here.
