Virginia sees 1,429 new coronavirus cases, now reporting 178,183 statewide

RICHMOND, Va. – As of October 29, Virginia is now reporting 178,183 cases of the coronavirus across the commonwealth since March.

Thursday’s total of 178,183 marks an increase from Wednesday’s total of 176,754 cases.

Here is a breakdown of the 1,429 new coronavirus cases in Virginia:

  • 184 new cases in Fairfax County
  • 115 new cases in Prince William County
  • 75 new cases in Virginia Beach
  • 52 new cases in Henrico County
  • 51 new cases in Chesterfield County
  • 40 new cases in Franklin County
  • 39 new cases in Roanoke
  • 32 new cases in Loudoun County
  • 31 new cases in Roanoke County
  • 29 new cases in Lynchburg
  • 28 new cases in Bedford County
  • 24 new cases in Montgomery County, Norfolk, Chesapeake and Hanover County
  • 23 new cases in Stafford County
  • 22 new cases in Wise County
  • 20 new cases in Newport News
  • 18 new cases in Spotsylvania County
  • 17 new cases in Arlington County, Suffolk and Fauquier County
  • 16 new cases in Pittsylvania County, Alexandria and Washington County
  • 14 new cases in Campbell County, Danville, Amherst County, Portsmouth, Prince George County and Buckingham County
  • 13 new cases in Richmond, Lee County, Hampton and Halifax County
  • 12 new cases in Scott County and Salem
  • 11 new cases in Russell County and Petersburg
  • 10 new cases in Charlottesville, Harrisonburg, Henry County and Tazewell County
  • 9 new cases in Culpeper County and Grayson County
  • 8 new cases in Albemarle County, Augusta County, Botetourt County, Appomattox County and Shenandoah County
  • 7 new cases in Bristol, Staunton and Caroline County
  • 6 new cases in Mecklenburg County, New Kent County, Dinwiddie County, Greensville County, Orange County, Smyth County, Louisa County and James City County
  • 5 new cases in Frederick County, Rockingham County, Isle of Wight County, Manassas Park, Galax, Manassas, Hopewell and Martinsville
  • 4 new cases in Page County, Winchester, Radford, Carroll County and Richmond County
  • 3 new cases in Prince Edward County, King William County, Pulaski County, King George County, Westmoreland County, Charlotte County, Nelson County, Fredericksburg and Madison County
  • 2 new cases in Warren County, Waynesboro, Gloucester County, Nottoway County, York County, Buchanan County, Fluvanna County, Powhatan County, Williamsburg, Rappahannock County, Wythe County, Cumberland County and Alleghany County
  • 1 new case in Dickenson County, Lexington, Clarke County, Floyd County, Colonial Heights, Goochland County, Essex County, Giles County, Mathews County, Emporia, Surry County, Northampton County, Fairfax, Craig County and Brunswick County
  • Bland County and Sussex County all decreased by one case

As of Thursday, the Virginia Dept. of Health reports there have been 2,783,885 total testing encounters.

The term “testing encounters” includes individuals who have been tested more than once due to their profession, high-risk status or need for a negative result to return to work. The health department started using this metric on May 1. To learn more, click here.
