Virginia sees 1,366 new coronavirus cases, now reporting 187,202 statewide

There are now 3,688 deaths from the coronavirus in Virginia

RICHMOND, Va. – As of November 5, Virginia is now reporting 187,202 cases of the coronavirus across the commonwealth since March.

Thursday’s total of 187,202 cases marks an increase from Wednesday’s total of 185,836 cases.

Here is a breakdown of the 1,366 new cases in Virginia:

  • 135 new cases in Fairfax County
  • 90 new cases in Prince William County
  • 58 new cases in Henrico County
  • 53 new cases in Richmond
  • 48 new cases in Virginia Beach
  • 43 new cases in Culpeper County
  • 38 new cases in Chesterfield County
  • 34 new cases in Roanoke and Stafford County
  • 33 new cases in Wise County
  • 32 new cases in Loudoun County and Chesapeake
  • 31 new cases in Roanoke County
  • 30 new cases in Buckingham County
  • 29 new cases in Montgomery County
  • 25 new cases in Spotsylvania County
  • 24 new cases in Franklin County
  • 23 new cases in Newport News
  • 22 new cases in Frederick County and Alexandria
  • 21 new cases in Scott County and Prince George County
  • 20 new cases in Norfolk
  • 18 new cases in Arlington County and Bedford County
  • 17 new cases in Bristol
  • 16 new cases in Campbell County and Smyth County
  • 14 new cases in Washington County and Hanover County
  • 13 new cases in Shenandoah County and Russell County

  • 6 new cases in Botetourt County, Salem, Rockingham County, Warren County, Augusta County, Galax and Amherst County
  • 5 new cases in Lexington, Tazewell County, Bland County, Goochland County, Buchanan County, Louisa County and Hopewell
  • 4 new cases in Albemarle County, Martinsville, Manassas, Accomack County, Westmoreland County, Rockbridge County, Wythe County, King William County and Gloucester County
  • 3 new cases in Pittsylvania County, Orange County, Hampton, Appomattox County, Dickenson County, Caroline County, Nottoway County, Northampton County, Floyd County, Norton, Sussex County, Colonial Heights, Surry County and King George County
  • 2 new cases in Mecklenburg County, Isle of Wight County, Brunswick County, Fredericksburg, York County, Winchester, James City County, Giles County, Buena Vista, Fluvanna County, Prince Edward County, Manassas Park, Southampton County and Highland County
  • 1 new case in Covington, Waynesboro, Patrick County, Franklin, Clarke County, Grayson County, Williamsburg, Greene County, King and Queen County, Essex County, Page County, New Kent County, Cumberland County, Charles City County, Charlotte County and Falls Church
  • Powhatan County has decreased by one case
  • Richmond County has decreased by 11 cases

As of Thursday, the Virginia Dept. of Health reports there have been 2,934,446 total testing encounters.

The term “testing encounters” includes individuals who have been tested more than once due to their profession, high-risk status or need for a negative result to return to work. The health department started using this metric on May 1. To learn more, click here.
