Virginia sees 1,700 new coronavirus cases, now reporting 530,825 statewide

There are now 6,820 deaths from the coronavirus in Virginia

As of February 8, Virginia is reporting 530,825 cases of the coronavirus across the commonwealth since March 2020.

As of Monday, a total of 1,072,748 vaccines have been administered across Virginia, with 195,970 people being fully vaccinated, according to VDH.

Monday’s total of 530,825 cases marks an increase from Saturday’s total of 529,125 cases.

  • Radford and Floyd County decreased by one

As of Monday, the Virginia Dept. of Health reports there have been 6,797,457 total testing encounters.

The term “testing encounters” includes individuals who have been tested more than once due to their profession, high-risk status or need for a negative result to return to work. The health department started using this metric on May 1. To learn more, click here.
