Virginia sees 1,539 new coronavirus cases, now reporting 551,538 statewide

There are now 7,016 deaths from the coronavirus in Virginia

As of February 15, Virginia is reporting 551,538 cases of the coronavirus across the commonwealth since March 2020.

As of Monday, a total of 1,367,319 vaccines have been administered across Virginia, with 337,968 people being fully vaccinated, according to VDH.

Here’s a breakdown of the 1,539 new coronavirus cases in Virginia:

  • 165 new cases in Fairfax County
  • 142 new cases in Chesterfield County
  • 106 new cases in Virginia Beach
  • 83 new cases in Prince William County
  • 77 new cases in Henrico County
  • 67 new cases in Chesapeake
  • 60 new cases in Loudoun County
  • 57 new cases in Newport News
  • 49 new cases in Norfolk
  • 38 new cases in Portsmouth
  • 35 new cases in Suffolk
  • 34 new cases in Richmond
  • 29 new cases in Hampton
  • 22 new cases in Arlington County
  • 21 new cases in Alexandria and Montgomery County
  • 19 new cases in Stafford County and Powhatan County
  • 18 new cases in Pittsylvania County and Fauquier County
  • 16 new cases in Rockingham County and Frederick County
  • 15 new cases in Spotsylvania County, Roanoke County, Albemarle County and Lexington
  • 14 new cases in Roanoke
  • 13 new cases in Charlottesville, James City County and Petersburg
  • 12 new cases in Hanover County and Campbell County
  • 11 new cases in Colonial Heights

  • 6 new cases in Richmond County, Franklin County and Southampton County
  • 5 new cases in Gloucester County, Fluvanna County and Botetourt County
  • 4 new cases in Augusta County, New Kent County, Staunton, Fredericksburg, Shenandoah County, Franklin, Accomack County, Wythe County, Carroll County and Grayson County
  • 3 new cases in Lynchburg, Buckingham County, Mecklenburg County, King William County, Winchester, Russell County, Manassas, Martinsville, Northumberland County, Fairfax, Waynesboro, Salem, Clarke County and Scott County
  • 2 new cases in Halifax County, Warren County, Caroline County, Pulaski County, Patrick County, Essex County, Smyth County, Wise County, Louisa County, Cumberland County, Middlesex County, Madison County, Bland County and Emporia
  • 1 new case in Buchanan County, Dinwiddie County, Henry County, Tazewell County, Amherst County, Lee County, Amelia County, Nelson County, Greene County, Williamsburg, Charlotte County, Nottoway County, Galax, Appomattox County, Charles City County, Mathews County, Northampton County and Surry County
  • Radford and Prince Edward County decreased by one case

As of Monday, the Virginia Dept. of Health reports there have been 7,070,207 total testing encounters.

The term “testing encounters” includes individuals who have been tested more than once due to their profession, high-risk status or need for a negative result to return to work. The health department started using this metric on May 1. To learn more, click here.
