Franklin County Sheriff's Office hosts Virginia Rules camp for youth

The law-themed camp gives students a firsthand look at the Commonwealth's laws.

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Va. – While many children are getting ready to go back to school, Friday, one group of students in Franklin County had a special graduation ceremony.

It's all part of a week-long "Virginia Rules" camp hosted by the Franklin County Sheriff's Office. The law-themed camp gives students the chance to get a firsthand look at the Commonwealth's laws. Deputies also teach the children about the dangers of bullying.

"I had the best time here. All the deputies are really nice, all the teachers are really nice and the leaders are great. All the activities are really fun, I've never shot a gun or done archery, but it was so much fun. Lots of first times are great," said Heidi Eames.

The Franklin County Sheriff's Office received a $5,000 grant from the office of Attorney General Mark Herring for the camp.
