Pedestrian killed on Route 220 in Franklin County

State police have not identified the woman

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Va. – State police are working to identify a pedestrian who was killed on Route 220 in Franklin County. 

It happened around 7 p.m. Friday one mile south of Route 635.

A woman was walking in the center of the left southbound lane when she was hit by a car that was traveling south, according to state police. She was then hit by three other vehicles.

The woman was not carrying any personal information that would help state police identify her. 

The body has been sent to the medical examiner's office in Roanoke for identification.
