Police investigating Lexington Hampton Inn armed robbery

LEXINGTON, Va. – Authorities are searching for the man they say committed armed robbery at a Lexington Hampton Inn on Monday evening.

Members of the Lexington Police Department responded to the hotel on East Nelson Street for a reported armed robbery in progress and were assisted by the Virginia State Police, the Virginia Military Institute Police Department, the Buena Vista Police Department and the Rockbridge County Sheriff’s Office.

During the police investigation, it was determined that a man entered the business, showed a weapon and assaulted a staff member.  

He then ran away with money taken from the cash drawer, according to a news release from the Lexington Police Department.

The man is described as being 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighing about 180 pounds.
