Gleaning for the World collecting donations for Hurricane Irma victims

The nonprofit already has five distribution centers set up in Florida

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Gleaning for the World is back at the Sam’s Club in Lynchburg, this time collecting donations for Hurricane Irma victims. The nonprofit organization already has five distribution centers set up in Florida waiting for the storm to clear to get products in. Gleaning for the World is collecting food, money and essentials supplies for those who have lost everything.

"The water we're able to ship in at a minimal cost. The normal things that you use every day is what they're gonna need. We're looking at 30 to 60 days of being out for half the population of Florida. They're gonna need all the supplies that we can possibly ship down to them,” Ron Davidson, founder and president of Gleaning for the World, said.

Depending on the response from the community, Gleaning for the World says it will be at the Sam’s Club from now until Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
