High school student hospitalized after being hit by car in Lynchburg

Crash happened after 9:30 a.m. Wednesday

LYNCHBURG, Va. - Police are investigating after a Lynchburg high school student was hit by a car on Wednesday morning.

The call came into the Lynchburg Police Department at 9:35 a.m when a pedestrian was hit on Wiggington Road near Ivy Creek Lane.

Police say that the student was on the side of the road waiting for a ride when the student was hit by a car going north on Wiggington.

Authorities say the student was stable but in critical condition after suffering a head injury.

The driver of the car was not hurt and stayed at the scene.

Police do not believe speed was a factor.
