Lickinghole Creek Craft Brewery expanding to Lynchburg, creating 59 new jobs

New production facility coming to Lynchburg

LYNCBHBURG – A new craft brewery is set to bring almost sixty jobs to the Lynchburg area.

Governor McAuliffe announced on Friday, that Lickinghole Creek Craft Brewery will be expanding it's current facilities to the city.

“Today’s announcement is another example of a success story for the Commonwealth’s booming craft brewery industry and builds on our ongoing efforts to create a new Virginia economy,” said Governor McAuliffe. “Investments like this create jobs, tourism opportunities, and new markets for Virginia’s farmers as craft breweries source products like hops, fruit, herbs, and other agricultural products. Lickinghole Creek has built a strong reputation for its award-winning beers and its locally grown ingredients, and the city of Lynchburg offers the infrastructure, available site and building, and natural resources that will allow the company to continue to thrive and grow.”

The Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (VDACS) worked with Goochland County, the City of Lynchburg, and the company to secure these projects for Virginia.

Governor McAuliffe approved a $250,000 grant from the Governor’s Agriculture and Forestry Industries Development (AFID) Fund for the expansion in Goochland, and a $50,000 AFID grant for the new facility in Lynchburg.

Both grants will be matched with local funds. Additional funding and services to support the company’s employee training activities will be provided through the Virginia Jobs Investment Program.

The brewery began in 2013 and currently has a plant in Goochland.

The expansion will take about three years.
