LYNCHBURG, Va. - Honoring one of their own.
On Tuesday, law enforcement across Central Virginia and community members are remembering officers who died in the line of duty this past year.

Virginia State Trooper Lucas Dowell was one of the officers honored.
Dowell was killed in February while serving a search warrant in Cumberland County.
Troopers who worked with him said Tuesday's ceremony reminds them how important Dowell was to the community.
"This is somebody that I stood side by side with and so it's very personal. Each time that I go to a ceremony like this it reminds me of how precious life is," Lt. David Edwards said.
The ceremony is a part of Lynchburg's police week program.
