LYNCHBURG, Va. – Liberty University students who traveled to Texas to help Hurricane Harvey victims are back home. The Send Now team spent about a week helping those in need in the Lone Star State.

In a town of 26,000 people, Liberty University students wanted those in Texas to know they’re in their hearts.
“Just to emphasis the fact that there's people that came from Virginia to Texas and 'we love you,' that's the message we want to get across,” said Daniel Morin with LU Send Now.
For days, the students cut down trees and worked on about 25 to 30 homes.
"Honestly it’s way too much for them to do by themselves. It would've taken them months for them to do that work by themselves. We come in with a team of 20-30 people we're done in two hours. And it was really cool to see the effect of that,” Morin said.
After putting in the labor, the students learned they were more than just a helping hand, but also lending an ear.
"We walked into a situation where homeowners were really hurting and needed comfort.,” Sarah Burlingame, LU Send Now, said.
Where prayer and comfort was given, personal growth also happened.
“It was good for me to see a situation like that, and walking back and knowing that my problems are not the biggest problems. And I have the ability to help others in situations here and in disaster scenarios,” Burlingame said.
