Lynchburg City Schools bus involved in crash, no injuries reported

Chevrolet Blazer was attempting to escape authorities, police say

LYNCHBURG, Va. – No one was hurt after a crash involving a Lynchburg City Schools bus Tuesday afternoon.

At 2:53 p.m., deputies with the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office and Lynchburg Police Department officers attempted to stop a burgundy 2000 Chevrolet Blazer.

Officers say that as the Blazer was driven through the intersection of 12th and Clay streets in an attempt to flee from them, it made contact with the front of a school bus, glancing off of it and continuing into the 500 block of 12th Street, where it left the roadway and struck a tree.

There was one juvenile on board the bus at the time of the accident who was not hurt, according to a news release.

There were also no injuries to either driver.

The Lynchburg Police Department’s Traffic Safety Unit is conducting this investigation and will provide updates at a later time.
