Man arrested in Virginia Beach after Lynchburg break-in, car theft

LYNCHBURG, Va. – A Lynchburg man is in custody after police said he stole a car from a dealership and was later involved in two hit-and-run crashes.

Lynchburg police responded to Auto Connection in Lynchburg on Tuesday morning at 8:53 after a vehicle was stolen. Employees noticed the front glass door was broken, and keys were missing for a 2016 Chevrolet Malibu, according to police.

The Virginia Beach Police Department alerted Lynchburg police at about 2:38 p.m. that the stolen Malibu had was involved in a hit-and-run crash in Virginia Beach. Police said the man abandoned the Mailbu, stole another vehicle and got into another hit-and-run crash before being taken into custody.

Christopher Lance Houston, 38, of Lynchburg, was the man driving both vehicles, according to Virginia Beach police.

He was taken to the hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries and released before being charged with grand larceny of a vehicle and two counts of hit-and-run.

Police said additional charges against Houston are pending.
