LYNCHBURG, Va. – A 37-year-old man is safe after his canoe flipped on the James River on Monday afternoon.
It happened near the Scotts Mill Dam at 3:30 p.m.

One dam employee and four divers were there when it happened and were able to rescue the man.
Police said they offered medical transport, but the man refused.Â
