Lynchburg police identify suspect they say shot a woman early Monday morning

The 37-year-old is a convicted felon

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Police in Lynchburg are searching for a 37-year-old man after a woman was shot Monday morning.

Officers responded to the 1100 block of Buchanan Street at 2:42 a.m. for a reported malicious wounding.

Police are now searching for Nicholas Jones, of Amherst, in connection with the shooting.

The woman who was shot was taken to the hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Jones is wanted on the following charges:

  • Malicious wounding
  • Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon
  • Use of a firearm in the commission of a felony
  • Three counts of shooting into an occupied dwelling
