LYNCHBURG, Va. – New construction in Lynchburg will create big changes for the people living in an elderly community. For now, Westminster Canterbury-Lynchburg follows a hospital-style model where people share rooms With bathrooms down the hall. To help improve that environment. Officials say they've begun construction for a new six-story healthcare center. The new tower will feature 84 private rooms with 21 rooms per floor and a "neighborhood" environment. The group says it will also renovate its three main dining areas and re-design its wellness center. The project was made possible through a $38.2 million load from Suntrust Bank. Construction of the health care center is expected to be completed by late spring 2019.
