MONTOGMERY COUNTY, Va. – The driver involved in the deadly crash on Interstate 81 in Montgomery County on July 4 is now facing new charges.

Travis Martin, of Powhatan, Virginia, was charged Tuesday with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and felony possession of a controlled substance, according to court documents.

This comes after Virginia State Police say they conducted a search warrant on his car.

As WSLS 10 previously reported, Martin was charged with reckless driving and driving with a revoked license the day of the crash.

Police say Martin was driving an SUV that hit a disabled tractor-trailer parked on the right shoulder of the highway. The passenger in the SUV was killed.
