Floyd County missing man found safe

FLOYD COUNTY, Va. – A missing 75-year-old man has been found safe, according to Floyd County Sheriff Brian Craig.

Willie Buckner was found Monday night in a wooded area less than a mile away from his home.

Craig said he was found by a local property owner riding an ATV.

Buckner was being examined by the rescue squad and Craig said he appears to be in good spirits and good health.


The Floyd County Sheriff's Office is asking for help finding a missing, endangered and disabled 75-year-old man.

Sherman Buckner, who goes by the name Willie, was last seen about 11:30 a.m. Monday in the 1900 block of Alum Ridge Road in Floyd County.

He is 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighs 185 pounds and was last seen wearing a blue long-sleeve shirt, black athletic pants,  gray hat and brown slip-on shoes.

He should also have a walker with him.
