Giles County crash kills two

There will be no charges in a Route 460 crash that killed two people Friday

Virginia State Police are investigating a deadly two-vehicle crash that happened Friday in Giles County.

Barbara Gilmer, 71, and Dwight Gilmer, 74, of Narrows, Virginia both died at the scene, according to police.

They were in an SUV at 12:20 p.m. when the driver, Barbara Gilmer, pulled out from Clendennin Road into the path of a Dodge Ram that was traveling west on Route 460. The driver of the truck was unable to avoid the SUV, causing a collision.

The driver of the truck, a 40-year-old man from Pearisburg, Virginia, had minor injuries after the crash.

The crash remains under investigation. Police say alcohol was not a factor and there won't be any charges.
