New submarine christened in Virginia

USS Indiana christened in Newport News

NEWPORT NEWS – Vice President Mike Pence spoke about America's national security at a christening ceremony Saturday in Newport News.

The nuclear-powered submarine cost $2.5 billion and is capable of attacking targets with Tomahawk cruise missiles.

It is scheduled to be delivered to the Navy early next year.

Pence said President Donald Trump is committed to rebuilding the military.  "At a time of mounting threats across the globe, President Trump has made it clear.  America's national security is this president's highest priority, now and always," said Pence.

It is the third Navy ship christened with the name Indiana
